History
Winnsboro High School opened in the
Fall of 1960 after a decision by the Fairfield County School Board to
consolidate four of the county high schools. located on U.S. 321 By-Pass,
Winnsboro High is a three building complex
that is the educational center for approximately 800 students. The school is 24
miles from Columbia,
S.C. the State Capital. WHS houses grades 10-12and offers a
diverse curriculum designed to meet the needs of its students. Many
graduates enroll in colleges and universities in
South Carolina and surrounding states. Others choose to attend Technical
Centers. Many students who have attended the county Vocational School are able
to secure positions in their specialties. Winnsboro
High offers a total of 20 required courses and 58 electives. These courses are
taught on basic, general, or academic levels.
